Change of plans.
.
Sometimes we go our entire pregnancy dreaming of what our birth will look like and then… plans change.
We shift.
.
While plans changed for this sweet family the ultimate goal did not.
.
A physiological autonomous Family centered birth.
.
I walked into the room at 11:07 PM , greeted by a sweet familiar smile from Liz who was busy physically supporting mama. Dad who was actively encouraging his partner.
.
Moments later we heard “I feel him, he’s coming.”
.
Doctor was called.
.
Everyone stayed back allowing mama to labor baby down. Partner and Doula never leaving her side.
.
“Let me know if you want my help” the doctor expressed.
.
And it wasn’t until Mama asked for assistance that hands became tools.
.
11:38PM
Ryder was born. 🤎.
& a sense of relief washed accross moms face.
SHE did it.
.
He was here.
..
This is collaborative care.
.
This is what birth can be.
.
We can honor families wishes even when plans change.
.
We can use our Hands as tools when needed, and sit on them when those tools aren’t needed.
